History

Back to the beginnings - as the first series manufacturer, the PÖSSL GROUP can look back on over three decades of company history - experience that is reflected in all our products!

1989
THE birth OF PÖSSL

First serial conversions of the "original Pössl" in 1989 and 1990 performed by Peter Pössl using two bases: Ford Transit Fan and Ford Transit Family each with a pop-up roof.

1991
THE FORD TRANSIT PICK-UP/Alkoven is the production centre

A range of model versions are marketed under the names SPUTNIK, GEMINI, APOLLO1, APOLLO2 and CALYPSO. The Ford Transit provided the basis for both the single and twin cab versions.

1995
THE FIRST PÖSSL panel VAN

Peter Pössl’s vision is realised! To convert the inside of a small campervan into a serial panel van. The vehicle bases are the Peugeot Boxer and Fiat Ducato.
The DUO 2000, the DUO VAN, the DUETT and the PÖSSL FAMILY are born. At the time, Peter Pössl had no idea of the excitement he had unleashed. PÖSSL marketed the converted box van at the same price it cost in Germany for just the metal body of the vehicle. Even then the panel vans with full caravan interior boasted 12 m2 of living space..

2000
The MARKET flourishes

A remarkable 360 PÖSSL vehicles are sold in Germany and Austria.

2002
a radical CHANGE

The takeover by the Glück Group and the development of the classic 2WIN model boost the production and sales figures.

2004
NEW PRODUCTION partner in Isny in southern Germany

PÖSSL moves its outsourced production from Adria in Slovenia to its partner based in Isny in the Allgäu region - A total of 1700 units are sold. In addition, a Europeanwide dealership network is established. The GLOBECAR brand is launched as a separate design series with its own dealership network.

2005
New CHASSIS versions

Citroën, Fiat, Ford and Renault bases all become immediately available.

2007
THE H-LINE SERIES IS BORN

The series is switched to the new X250 chassis of the Fiat Ducato and Citroën Jumper, and the 2WIN gets a huge upgrade through the 40 cm longer undercarriage. PÖSSL’s own “all in” concepts prove popular on the market – meticulous workmanship and the good price-performance balance continue to be aspects associated with the brand.

The company continues its own production of the CONCORDE COMPACT after Concorde deletes this models from its product range. It also develops the H Line series with GRP elevated roof.

2008

1000 units are sold in Europe in the first year alone.

2017

2020
THE VANLINE begins

The season starts with the launch of the VANSTER – in contrast to the CAMPSTER, rather than having permanent furnishings, it is designed as an everyday run-about with up to eight seats, with a pop-top roof and optional Campbox with cooking and sleeping facilities.

One season later sees the première of both full conversion models with Mercedes Vito and V Class base: VANSTAR and CAMPSTAR join the team with the other two vans. The VANLINE range is created – the PÖSSL GROUP’s compact bus class.
